Ivanhoe Cambridge’s goals were to renovate the existing interior ‘main streets’ of the shopping centre, while enhancing its architectural and entertainment appeal.

Our main challenge was to renovate 180,000 SF of the mall’s ‘main streets,’ while keeping the existing centre open for business, all within a short timeframe.

Our solution was to break down the renovation work into phases and zones. We worked closely with municipal officials and other authorities to ensure that all renovation work could be performed while the centre remained open for business. Phasing and zoning of the construction work ensured that existing retailers within the mall were not negatively impacted during renovation work.

The key to this project’s success was our ability to fully understand the client’s and tenant’s needs, while dealing with municipal issues, from pre-consultation meetings to building permit issuance. On budget, we delivered the project in just 12 months.
