Lake Simcoe Regional Airport

Oro-Medonte, Ontario

This project involved the renovation and an addition to the Terminal building at a small regional airport.  The facility remained in operation throughout the construction period.  Although small in scale, this is a multi-tenanted and multi-functional airport facility.  The project work included a 300 m2 addition and the renovation of the existing two-level 655m2 Terminal building. Client design criteria was for a fresh, modern, corporate image for both the new and existing spaces, to expand operations and tenant areas and to add a restaurant with full kitchen, pilot lounge and an exterior patio.

To achieve a seamless flow of space, the addition maintained similar structural systems, architectural rhythm and the exterior materials of the existing building.  Operable and clerestory windows and large ceiling fans were introduced to take advantage of free cooling and natural ventilation.
